In March 2006 The University of Sheffield, where Trevor has an Honorary Degree, offered the EBE use of Firth Hall as a venue for the ensemble's first rehearsals and performance. As a result, a four-day music residency was held in Firth Hall from July 31 - August 3, 2006.  At the same time the University also offered a sizable donation to go towards our Sheffield City Hall recording project.

During our stay at Sheffield University we tragically lost our dear friend and colleague Katherine McGilivray when she passed away suddenly from a brain haemorrhage. The University staff were caring, discreet and most helpful to us during this very difficult time.

Sheffield University also took part in the Brandenburg Concertos CD release by sponsoring the catering for our November 2007 press launch which took place before the EBE's final UK concert at Codogan Hall, London. Miles Stevenson, Director of Alumni Development at Sheffield, represented the University at the press launch speaking alongside Lord Balfour of Brucefield, Chairman of the EBE Charitable trust, and Simon Foster of AVIE Records.
