Sarah Moffatt - Biography
Sarah Moffatt was born in Dublin and studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She worked for a year with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland before moving to London to complete her studies on baroque violin at the Royal Academy of Music, where her teachers included Monica Huggett, Catherine Mackintosh and the late Micaela Comberti . While studying at the RAM, Sarah was awarded numerous prizes including a DipRAM (the RAM’s highest award for a final recital).
Currently based in London, she tours regularly throughout Europe, The Americas & The Far East with the chamber ensembles Florilegium, La Serenissima, and New London Consort (also on renaissance violin). She also performs with orchestras such as The English Baroque Soloists, The English Concert and The Academy of Ancient Music. For many years she was leader of the Irish Baroque Orchestra, and has also appeared as leader for English Touring Opera and Opera Theatre Company (Ireland).
She has been broadcast as soloist on BBC Radio 3, RTE Lyric FM (Ireland), and Radio Catalunya (Spain). Recent CD releases include Italian Instrumental Music Vol 1 & Vivaldi in Arcadia with La Serenissima (Avie Records), and Bolivian Baroque with Florilegium (Channel Classics).
